The Routes

In the late 60's a garage and psych wave spread across Japan and gave the world hidden gems like The Mops, Jacks and Apryl Fool. In the tradition of that same Eastern slant on the Brit/American idiom The Routes explode through eleven fiery garage tracks that evoke the howl of The Sonics and the rasp of The Seeds. Rather than obscuring their sonic scrawl in layers of hiss and effect the band takes a clean line shot at the original '66 garage tone, pulling off a rather fitting emulation while cranking out some tunes that keep up with frantic pace of many current U.S. counterparts. When you get down to it this is just a fun record for any one with the Nuggets boxes sitting on their shelves. Out now on the UK's Dirty Water Records.
