Black Gum

Austin's Black Gum roll some sand into the garage, blending surf tones with lo-fi moves and catchy as hell choruses for a rather fun introduction. Their self-titled first cassette comes via Monofonus Press, who've been responsible for some great releases from The Rebel, Sun Araw and Diagonals of late. Raw and ragged but it feels like any spitshine would only tarnish up the band's hip slung fun; which tends to come off something like half a crowd pogoing at once and the other half trying to do The Swim drunk. Needless to say its a damn good time. Pick up the cassette, pop open your walkman and hit the skateboard for this one.
