Naked on the Vague

The aural accompaniment to Naked on the Vague's soon go be released film, also titled Twelve Dark Noons which will be released later in the year as a joint venture between Night People and Sacred Bones. Here again the band is in full four-piece form and the extra push of drummer Lachlan Vercoe and bassist Nic De Jong bring a rhythmic clarity to their darkened post-punk. While the film is reportedly a manic unraveling of minds set in the Australian outback, the EP doesn't quite touch on anything that psychedelic. It does however mine a sinister strain of 80's post-punk that feels as at home with Sacred Bones reissues like 13th Chime as it does played in succession with your old Bauhaus records. Definitely some of the band's strongest songs yet and an inkling of the direction they're headed in as their sound solidifies. Check out the teaser for the Jaqueline Castel directed Twelve Dark Noons below.
