Moon Duo

Striking out solo, despite what the name might imply, Ripley Johnson of Wooden Shjips continues to splash morotik rhythms with a heavy helping of fuzz. Not as outwardly heavy as the Shjips, though the lack of a rhythm section might account for that, Moon Duo nonetheless tread very similar waters to Johnson’s day job, with a long attention span locking things down into a blown cone fuzz and on occasion bolstering the show with a seasick swell of organ that seems to roll and tumble ‘til dawn. Starting things off with a 12” on Sick Thirst, Ripley’s already in good hands and it looks as if a release is in the works at Sacred Bones with possibly more on the way.
