The Fresh and Onlys

Now in some circles Shayde Sartin may not be a household name... scratch that, in most circles Sartin is not a household name. However, around here he's been an anchor in some pretty heavy Raven fodder; playing in the expanded version of Skygreen Leopards, The Skyhigh Band (backing up Wooden Wand), Giant Skyflower Band and of cours the inimitable Flying Canyon. So needless to say when the man had a new project out we were mighty interested. Shayde along with members of Black Fiction are now kicking out a very potent strain of garage that sounds so effortless you'd think that this band was deep in catalog and just now starting to surface. This is definitely has no markings of a debut album but then again the band's collective experience may speak to that. Swinginig from chugging riffs to breezy twang with the flick of a wrist and the curl of a smile, the band turned enough heads to get John Dwyer to kick out some vinyl for his rapidly solidifying Castle Face label. Add to this the fact that they served as backing band for the recently resurface Rodriguez when he began playing Cold Fact out and about after a long overdue reissue and you've got very little reason not to be checking out The Fresh and Onlys.
