Blank Dogs

Well to say that Blank Dogs had a strong year is nothing if not an understatement. It seems that though he follows the same palate of sounds, each release gets stronger and more refined in its pursuit of the perfect mix of pop and queasy experimentalism. The latest EP lands on Woodsist and besides sporting some stellar cover art it checks in as some of the most melodic of the Dogs' tracks yet. The beats have spurned some of their earlier crackle and his voice, while still mired in a glaze of effects is riding higher in the mix here. It'll be a tough measure to pick a favorite release this year but The Fields is steadily creeping up next to On Both Sides in my rotation. I'd say that I can't wait for the next release but it hardly seems necessary. Still a long player due on In The Red possibly before the end of the year but more likely at the beginning of the next.
