Forest Swords

UK dub-psych unit Forest Swords have finally exited the tape dungeon and wrapped up a full length LP for Olde English Spelling Bee. Dagger Paths definitely has a few pieces that will sound familiar to those that snagged the early tape releases, but remastered and presented on sidelong wax seems to only enhance their gritty, swamp dub sound. Littered with oozing humid guitar spirituals underpinned by ceremonial percussion and filtered through a womb veneer of tape recording that renders background sounds in charcoal relief against the ritualistic foreground; Forest Swords have elevated themselves out of a pack of psych imitators and proven themselves true. Add to this the seemingly disparate vocal snippets and Morricone overtones and words like essential seem to pop up instantly. Thanks to GvsB to turning us on to Forest Swords a while back, its been a good journey ever since. >

I am loving the album. I had picked up their previous cassette but I completely agree that the remastering + vinyl adds so much to their sound.

Such a solid pickup .. and to think, I forgot I had ordered it until it was at my house last week!

I'd snagged earlier copies of both these songs - but these sound _much_ better. Off to order the album - thank you!
